Storage or Tankless Water Heater?
First, it's worth clarifying which type of unit we're talking about:
- Storage (tank) water heater — heats and stores a fixed volume of water (50, 80, 100, 120 litres). Better suited for apartments without a gas connection or where water pressure is unstable. Electricity is the only energy source.
- Tankless water heater (instant heater) — heats water on demand as it flows through. Smaller and cheaper to install, but requires a strong gas connection and stable water pressure. Runs on gas, not electricity.

Storage Water Heater Cost — What Affects the Price
Several factors influence the total cost:
- Capacity — 50 l is sufficient for one person, 80 l for two, 100–120 l for three or more.
- Enamel type — titanium enamel or glass enamel; titanium is more durable but priced higher.
- Brand and warranty — domestic brands (Termorad, Metalac) typically have a lower purchase price; imports (Ariston, Bosch, Gorenje) cost more but offer better service networks.

Tip: Ask the plumber in advance whether they take the old heater away for disposal. Many do this free of charge or for a nominal fee — and sometimes they'll even buy it off you (older stainless-steel models have scrap value).
What Is Included in the Installation Price?
A proper installation includes:
- Draining and removing the old water heater
- Preparing the location — cleaning, adjusting the mounting bracket if needed
- Installing the new heater and connecting to the water pipes (hot/cold)
- Electrical connection (if the heater doesn't already have a dedicated socket)
- Installing the safety valve and drain hose
- Filling and checking all joints for leaks
- Test run and thermostat calibration
Warning: The electrical connection for a water heater must be on a protected, dedicated circuit (a breaker solely for the heater) with proper earthing. If your apartment doesn't have such a circuit, that is additional work for an electrician — factor this in before the heater installation.

- Check the energy class — the difference between class B and A+ shows up on your annual electricity bill.
