Replacing doors in an apartment sounds straightforward — but in practice there are plenty of questions: does the opening match standard dimensions, what about the frames and casing, who removes the old door and what happens to it? This guide gives realistic prices for Belgrade, Pančevo and Valjevo and explains what drives the total cost.
Interior Doors — Types and Price Differences
Interior doors in apartments come in several basic constructions:
- CPL (laminate on HDF core) — the most affordable option, lightweight and scratch-resistant. Standard door leaf price 8,000–20,000 RSD depending on size and colour.
- Veneered doors — thin real-wood veneer on HDF. Warmer appearance, higher price: 20,000–50,000 RSD per leaf.
- Solid wood doors — rare in new builds, more common in renovating older apartments. Heavy to install, but durable: 30,000–80,000 RSD and more per leaf.
- Sliding doors — installation is more complex (track inside or alongside the wall), but saves space.
Entrance (Security) Doors — What You Get
Entrance doors are a different category — steel or multi-layer panel, multi-point locking, certified burglary resistance:
- Class RC2 — basic security, recommended for apartments; price 60,000–120,000 RSD
- Class RC3 — higher burglary resistance; 120,000–250,000 RSD
- Domestic brands (Roto, Fibra) are cheaper than imports (Dierre, Alias) at similar dimensions for lower classes

Belgrade
- Interior door (standard opening 80–90 cm, replacement in existing frame): 4,000–7,000 RSD labour only
- If the frame and casing are also replaced: 7,000–14,000 RSD labour
- Entrance security door: 8,000–18,000 RSD labour only (door not included); includes removing the old door, fitting the new frame in concrete, sealing
Pančevo
- Interior door (replacement in frame): 3,000–5,500 RSD
- With new frame: 5,500–11,000 RSD
- Entrance door: 7,000–15,000 RSD
Valjevo
- Interior door (replacement in frame): 2,500–5,000 RSD
- With new frame: 5,000–10,000 RSD
- Entrance door: 6,000–13,000 RSD
Note: Labour prices do not include materials (door, frame, locks, hinges). Always request a quote that clearly separates "labour" from "materials" — it makes comparing multiple quotes much easier.
How to Measure a Door Opening Correctly
A measurement error means returning the door and extra cost. Here's how to measure:
- Measure the clear opening in the wall — from wall to wall and from floor to head jamb, at multiple points (walls are not always perfectly plumb)
- Standard leaf dimensions are 60, 70, 80, 90 cm width × 200 or 210 cm height — the frame is always slightly larger than the leaf
- Wall thickness determines the frame depth (lining); typically 10–16 cm for interior partition walls, 25–40 cm for load-bearing walls
- For non-standard openings (older apartments) — usually requires a custom order, which extends delivery by 2–4 weeks
Warning: Never order doors without a prior visit from the tradesperson who will install them. Dimensions on the drawing and the actual opening often differ by 1–3 cm — which is the difference between a door that fits and one that cannot close.
Locks and Hardware — What Is Charged Separately
- Standard interior door lock with handle: 2,000–8,000 RSD
- Keyed lock for bathroom/toilet: 3,000–10,000 RSD
- Entrance lock with 3-point protection: 8,000–25,000 RSD
- Fitting a lock into an existing door leaf (without replacing the leaf): 2,000–4,000 RSD
